natureThe Authentic Jamaica

Where Sky Meets Sea
A dramatic 1,700-foot cliff offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea and the romantic legend of two enslaved lovers.
Lover's Leap is one of Jamaica's most dramatic natural landmarks - a sheer cliff that plunges 1,700 feet to the Caribbean Sea below. Standing at the edge, visitors are rewarded with sweeping views that stretch to the horizon, where the deep blue of the ocean meets the endless sky.
The site takes its name from a tragic legend of two enslaved lovers who, facing separation when one was to be sold to another plantation, chose to leap from the cliff together rather than be parted. Their story of devotion unto death has made this a pilgrimage site for romantics.
The cliff is topped with a lighthouse that has guided ships along Jamaica's south coast for generations. The property includes a restaurant and bar where visitors can enjoy Jamaican cuisine while taking in the spectacular views. On clear days, you can see all the way to the Pedro Cays.
The surrounding landscape showcases the dramatic geography of St. Elizabeth's southern coast - rugged limestone cliffs carved by millennia of wind and waves, covered with hardy coastal vegetation.
